BAMBI
BAMBI. Noah Falke. August 2025.
Deer bones, steel, velvet fabric. vintage frame.
how do you feel about death? about making art out of decay? does the name of the piece disturb you? would you be equally disturbed if it was a photo of a hunter with a dead deer? why? why not?
can death be beautiful? should death be beautiful? should we display pain? sorrow? the grotesque? the uncomfortable?
this piece is about pain and grief. how it pierces your spine and leaves you numb. if you get too caught up in your own sorrow, you’ll end up decaying, rotting in bed. but you cannot blame someone for withering away when they are hurt to the bone.
it’s also about mothers, but i won’t go into details about that. you figure it out, if you want to:)
No animals were harmed in the process of making this piece. The bones were found by a friend as she was on a walk in a forest.
